Valley View

Description

Long Garth Cottages are comprised of The Granary Cottage and Valley View Cottage, both self-catering holiday cottages situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park, with fabulous views across Duddon Valley. Valley View is a detached cottage set in its own garden ground with a unique, elevated position, allowing uninterrupted views down the valley, and to Frith Hall (an ancient monument). A light airy cottage, the living space has beamed vaulted ceilings with large, floor to ceiling windows - ideal for gazing out at the amazing views (there is no light pollution from street lights here, so you'll have no trouble watching the stars at night). Valley View offers comfortable, spacious accommodation. It is a four bedroom property with two double rooms (one en-suite), and two twin rooms (one has zip and link beds, so can easily become another double). A Family bathroom includes a bath and walk in shower, whilst an ensuite shower room also provides with basin and WC, as does an additional cloakroom with WC and basin. There is a large, L-shaped, open plan lounge/dining room, with a vaulted, beamed ceiling, and pool table. There is also TV, DVD player and Free sat available. The kitchen includes a dishwasher, microwave, electric cooker and electric hob. There is also a separate utility area, with a fridge freezer and washing machine, and also a shared laundry room. There is also Wi-Fi in the property The property has beds for 8 people but there is a cot for an infant. The property is situated on a working farm with chance to see the animals. This promises to be particularly interesting during lambing season. The property is surrounded by open farmland with choice walking routes in every direction from the door. Other main attractions, such as Windermere, Coniston Old Man, South Lakes Wild Animal Park and Muncaster Castle are all easily accessible by car - as are The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. We are only 15mins from the West coast with sandy beaches, and the location is surrounded by peaceful, uncrowded walks. It is ideal for a family or a small group of couples looking to get away from the fast pace of life and enjoy walking or cycling in the beautiful surroundings of the Duddon Valley.

It’s the magnificent scenery that attracts so many holidaymakers to the Lake District. And you’ll find our holiday cottages in Cumbria and the Lakes are perfectly located to make the most of what is arguably the most beautiful region in England.

The Lake District National Park features stunning scenery of high fells and majestic lakes. This is ideal walking country, particularly over the many hills. The Lake District has the highest hills in England, including Scafell Pike, the country’s highest point. And of course there are the lakes themselves: glorious Windermere, pretty Derwent Water and beautiful Ullswater are just some of the highlights of our Cumbria and the Lakes cottage holidays.

For the historically minded, Cumbria offers a wealth of Celtic monuments, Roman remains, stately homes and ruined abbeys. Carlisle still has some of its ancient walls standing, as well as a Norman castle, and the western part of Hadrian’s Wall is nearby. Other places of interest include Penrith, with its castle and remarkably unchanged market square; Keswick, which was once the centre of pencil manufacturing; the busy market town of Kendal and Cockermouth, Wordsworth’s birthplace
